Nature-based solution scoping checklist
Connect the intended ecological and treatment functions with the site, operating plan and evidence.
The CSV includes columns for availability, source/date and your notes. The checklist does not require you to send information to BGF.
Function and site
- Treatment, hydrological and ecological objectives listed separately.
- Available land, connectivity, water regime and baseline condition.
- Source-water quality, flow and contaminant-load ranges.
Concept and interfaces
- Upstream treatment, nature-based component and downstream requirements.
- Climate, salinity, water availability and vegetation constraints.
- Bypass, abnormal inflow and maintenance access assumptions.
Evidence and operation
- Indicators and baseline for each claimed benefit.
- Sampling locations, timing and reference or comparison conditions.
- Maintenance, sediment, vegetation and monitoring responsibilities.
Decision
- Comparison with engineered or hybrid alternatives.
- Unresolved suitability questions and proposed validation.
- Criteria for acceptance, intervention and later review.
