Wastewater project checklist
Use this checklist to organize existing information before a treatment discussion. Record missing data explicitly; an unknown value is more useful than an unsupported assumption.
The CSV includes columns for availability, source/date and your notes. The checklist does not require you to send information to BGF.
Source & quantity
- Process and point of generation
- Average, peak and batch flow; units and period
- Normal, cleaning and upset-condition variability
Characterization
- Sample dates, locations, methods and representativeness
- pH, temperature and salinity/conductivity
- COD, BOD, TOC, solids, oil and grease, where relevant
- Source-specific contaminants and any known inhibition concerns
Current system
- Existing treatment and operating history
- Available inlet, outlet and residual data
- Known performance limitations or incidents
Decision & constraints
- Required discharge, reuse or downstream-treatment objective
- Footprint, utilities and operator constraints
- Sludge, gas, brine and other residual-management routes

This is an initial information checklist, not a laboratory instruction, safety assessment or detailed design specification. Select parameters and sampling arrangements with the responsible specialists.
